Winter engagement photos are not the most popular request, and for good reason — the cold, the snow, and bulky winter wear make for challenging conditions (I’ve only ever done one winter engagement session before). Every so often though, one adventurous couple steps up and wants to play in a winter wonderland. I met Maddie and Bryan at a private family property on Chalk Lake, in Port Perry, on one of the coldest days of the year (Valentine’s Day, actually — how romantic). Thankfully it wasn’t windy! Although it’s not necessarily obvious in the photos, the lake was completely frozen over and we walked to the other side to take advantage of what little greenery still exists in the dead of February. Maddie even snuck in an outfit change before we headed inside to take some final photos in front of the fireplace. I’ll see these two again for their wedding in September, which is guaranteed to be much warmer and have much less snow.
