“Hey Ryan, didn’t you just photograph Sam and Rob a few months ago?” I sure did, dear reader, I sure did. But a photographer generally doesn’t say no when someone says, “That was fun, let’s do it again!” Thus we did it again. For round two of their engagement photos, we headed to Silver Birch Beach at the very east end of Toronto’s Beaches neighbourhood.
With the picturesque skyline of the city in the distance and the soft sand beneath their toes, Sam and Rob’s love was truly in full bloom, even if the trees weren’t.
Being a mild spring evening, the beach was a hive of activity, with large amounts of people, dogs, and other photo shoots happening all around us. With Rob in his best Canadian tuxedo (denim on denim) and Sam in her complimentary denim and white tops, they grimaced their way through the sharp rocky shores of Lake Ontario to ensure we got great photos.
Silver Birch Beach provided the perfect backdrop for this engagement shoot. The Beaches neighbourhood is one of the most popular spots in Toronto, and it’s easy to see why. With its sweeping views of Lake Ontario and the Toronto skyline, it’s a stunning location for photos. The natural beauty of the beach, combined with Samantha and Rob’s love, made for an unforgettable shoot. (It’s also a great spot to watch fireworks on national holidays.)
Hot photography tip: right next to Silver Birch Beach (though not pictured here) is the R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant (“the waterworks”), which is one of the most notable Art Deco buildings in Canada. This stunning piece of architecture makes for a unique photo backdrop all on its own if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary for your next photo shoot.
